The poster is a black and white photograph of a street sign on Wall Street - a famous street of New York City and beyond - America.
Wall Street is an eight-block-long street running roughly northwest to southeast from Broadway to South Street in New York City. Over time, the term has become a metonym for the financial markets of the United States as a whole, the American financial services industry (even if financial firms are not physically located there), or New York–based financial interests.
It's because 2 biggest stock exchanges in the world are gathered on this street and some other large stock exchanges are in Wall Street area. Wall Street is the symbol of the economic system of America and more than that, the symbol of this country.
Today, the term Wall Street is used as a collective name for the financial and investment community, which includes stock exchanges, large banks, brokerages, securities, and underwriting firms.
Wall Street got its name from the wooden wall Dutch colonists built in lower Manhattan in 1653 to protect themselves from the British and Native Americans. The wall was taken down in 1699, but the name stuck.
The Wall Street area became a center of trade in the 1700s, but it didn't become famous for being America's financial center until 1792 when 24 of the United States' first and most prominent brokers signed the Buttonwood agreement.
This poster of Wall Street sign is suitable to be hung in offices to express firms' effort of expanding.
